KNOW HOW
Walk through the necessary and essentials steps to manufacture the Kushi Co. candles in the workshops in England.
Step 1
PERFUMING
Kushi’s fragrances developed with the upmost care and patience. Carefully selecting the raw materials, testing the formula in our atelier and mixing the perfume oil with our unique wax blend are some of the steps that lead the to a fragranced candle.
Step 2
PREPARING
All of our candles are handmade in our own laboratory in Birmingham, England. Their construction begins with the set up of the wicks. Firstly, every earthenware vessel is thoroughly cleansed using rubbing alcohol. Then each wick is placed by steady hands at the bottom of each glass so they stay perfectly centred. The earthenware vessels are then aligned on the counter in rows ready for the next step.
Step 3
POURING
Immediately after the molten wax is gently blended with the perfume oil, it is decanted by hand into pre-warmed individual vessels. When the wicks start to solidify, the wicks are straightened by hand to ensure that they stay perfectly centred.Step 4
REPOURING
Step 4 RE-POURING
After solidifying for 24 hours every candle is poured over a for a second time to ensure that there are no air bubbles, wet spots or craters.
Step 5
CUTTING
After curating for another 72 hours, the candles are then surfaced. This means that the top is slightly melted to make sure the surface is perfectly smooth. The wick is then cut at a specific height to ensure an optimal first burning.
Step 6
PROTECTING
Once cooled every candle is inspected, polished and ultimately packaged by hand.
