All of our scented candles are lovingly made to provide you with hours of fragrant bliss. To keep them looking and working their best, follow our tips to enjoy a purer scent experience and maintain their high quality for longer.

1. Plan when to burn
One of the most important things to consider before using your candle is if you have enough time to burn your candle. Each and every time you light your Kushi Candle, you must let it burn until the entire surface of wax becomes liquid. This is called a full melt pool and is usually achieved after 3-4 hours of being lit. If you extinguish your candle before it has reached a full melt pool, the candle will more than likely start tunnelling. That means the candle will burn without melting the sides which means wasted wax. Therefore to keep your candle burning evenly, always light it when you can enjoy it for at least 3-4 hours at a time.
2. Let them rest
After you burn your candle you should always let them rest for at least 6 hours before lighting them up again. This will give the wax enough time to cool down and solidify.
3. Trim the wick
By regularly trimming your wick, the candle will produce less soot and will last longer. This is because longer wicks produce a larger flame which will melt the wax faster. Also wicks that haven’t been trimmed will produce black sooty residue. Trimming wicks on a regular basis can stop any soot forming and keeps your candle looking tidy and burning cleanly.
4. Wipe them down
To keep your candle looking its best you should always keep it clean. Just use a tissue to wipe down the top edges of the vessel which may contain unsightly black marks. You should also keep the melt pool free from debris such as matches as they can ignite causing your candle causing your candle to burn faster.
5. Never blow out candles
Never ever blow out your candles because that will result in smoky burnt smell emanating, thus spoiling the scent the candle worked so hard to spread in your space. The trick here is to use a candle snuffer to smother the flame and extinguish it or use a candle extinguisher to push the wick down in to the wax to kill the flames. The latter method helps coat the wick back with proper wax for the next lighting.
6. Store them safely
When your candle is not in use, store in a cool dry place and cover it using a dust bag or lid. Temperature and light will affect the fragrance and colour so keep in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.

7. Repurpose them

Once your candle is finished, we encourage you to repurpose them. To remove any remaining wax, simply pour hot (not boiling) water and polish with a soft cloth.
